Social Media can be overwhelming at times. Algorithms change as often as you change your bedding. Trying to get your head around it all can be confusing. In this blog post, I’ll share with you answers to the 5 most popular questions we get asked on a regular basis.
What should I write in my Instagram Bio?
Your Instagram bio is one of the first things that potential clients will see when they land on your Instagram page – make it count!
Use every part of your bio to describe your business, where you are and what you offer. Also, did you know that the link in your bio is the ONLY CLICKABLE LINK on Instagram? Don’t bother wasting time putting links in your comments, they don’t transfer as clickable links. Send customers to the link in your bio instead.
Having a sale? Change the link in the bio to the sale section on your website.
Want people to sign up to a mailing list? Link it in your bio
New products/arrivals to display? Wack a link in your bio
Business announcements? Get it in your bio!
Also, utilise your Instagram highlights and make them look more presentable using highlight covers to tie in your brand’s colour themes.
We can help with all of this! We offer an Instagram Bio Tidy-Up which will result in more engagement, more clicks and more traffic to your website.
How regularly should I schedule my Instagram content?
Consistency is key! In order for your brand or business to grow on Social Media you should have a posting schedule. Check your insights tab on Instagram to know when your audience is most active and schedule your posts to suit. This gives you the best chance of maximising your brand awareness and visibility. We use scheduling tools here at Mersey Media as we have so many clients’ accounts to look after. This saves us switching between several programmes to get what we need. Instead, we have a dashboard with real time analytics and campaigns so we can see what’s what.
These tools don’t come cheap but if you have a business account on Facebook and Instagram you can now schedule both of these platforms via Facebook’s Content Creator section for free! If you’re on a budget this is a great way to get ahead in planning your Social Media.
Is there anything that I can do to organically grow my Instagram?
Yes! Don’t forget to engage! It’s called Social Media after all. Comment, like, engage and support. We recommend to our clients that they spend at least 30 mins a day on their Social Media platforms; liking comments, responding to comments and dm’s and of course engaging with other brands and businesses. It’s all very well posting regular content, but if you are just posting and not engaging there is simply no point in trying to build an online community.
Why is quality content important when posting on Instagram?
Eye-catching content gets people’s attention. You want to make sure the content you are creating is engaging. When you are building your following on Social Media, you want to focus on high-quality content that attracts users to your page. This translates into increased brand awareness and higher traffic to your website. As your following grows, you will notice an increase of views, likes and shares, which will all help to get you seen more and ultimately drive traffic to where your link is taking them. If your business or brand needs a hand with obtaining quality content, check out what we can do to help. We specialise in Social Media content in Liverpool whether it’s video or photography you are after.
Why are Hashtags so important on Instagram?
Hashtags are basically a way to get your content discovered on Instagram.
Hashtags work by organising your Instagram content into categories which in turn results in more engagement, more followers and more customers for your business. Every post you create can be accompanied with up to 30 hashtags that are relevant to what you are posting. By adding hashtags a post is then categorised so other users who search/follow similar hashtags can see it. Hashtags can also be used in stories using the hashtag stickers for a single hashtag or you can add up to 10 hashtags using the text tool. You can follow a hashtag like you would an account. If you are a business/brand we also encourage you to set up a branded hashtag and get your followers to follow it and share it as this is a great way to get discovered by new followers.
For example: One of our clients is an online eCommerce shop called Mumma and Mia. Whenever a customer buys an item, they are sent out their item and a little note asking that if they share their package on Social Media to please use the hashtag #goodiesfrommia. This is the perfect way for new customers to discover your brand as most of Mumma and Mia’s audience are mums and they share their new items to their Instagram stories, which in turn is seen by their followers, a high percentage of whom are mums themselves. It’s a great – and free – way of getting your brand/company out there to an audience that is already engaged.
If you have an Instagram Business account, don’t forget to view how successful your hashtags are by using the insight tool. This is a great way of tracking whether you’ve picked the right hashtag and strategy and how users found your post.
At Mersey Media, we believe in finding smaller, niche hashtags that have an engaged audience relevant to your industry rather than simply jumping on the bandwagon with the likes of #instagood, where you can get completely swallowed up and not even come close to landing on the explore page. To take advantage of this, just drop us a message and we can do all the hard work for you as part of our Social Media Management package.
This includes hashtag discovery and maintenance as well as scheduling your Instagram content; managing and growing your account and also boosting your engagement levels. For an additional fee, we can also create your content to give you fresh, high-quality imagery that will represent you and your brand to best advantage.
